Wow...so much going on!

First and Foremost, I must speak about the devastating deaths of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson. Of course, all happen in threes. However, my thoughts and prayers go out to their friends and family.

We all know how difficult it is to lose a loved one...my heart goes out to them!

Second of all, I am participating in the Relay for Life this Saturday and Sunday. It is a 24 hour walk in which all funds are raised for cancer. I am very excited; it is an all night event with relay races, cookouts, etc. and I cannot wait. I'm going with a bunch of friends I went to high school with; it should be a great time! It has been a while since I've slept in a tent; I love sleeping bags and sweatpants!

And then on Tuesday, we're off to the lake for a week! I'm so excited! I had dinner with my cousin E and Nana tonight and we discussed what to pack, who's gonna sleep where, etc. It just got me so much in the mood!!!

I'm also hoping that it is nice enough out tomorrow for a little beach time? I need to get some tan back in my life!!!

4. 5 weeks until my birthday! Holy crap I'm going to be 27! I don't normally make a big deal about birthdays, and this is my first one in a long time(4 years) that I've been single for!!! Who knows what I'll do? I would like to do something fun, and invite friends and stuff however, I'm always afraid if I invite people what if nobody wants to come? I have a while to think about it!

Life as a Single Girl

So let's just say its been 4 years since I was single. What am I to do? I'm trying not to think that my life is over; this is what I have going for me:

-I'm ONLY 26

-I have a job

-I have a great family!

-I have good friends

-I own my condo!

What happen to us you ask? Nothing really...we just were fighting all the time. Clearly, it wasn't meant to be. I have to honestly say I do not hate D, but do have feelings that I wasted time with him. I ended the relationship because he wasn't ready to commit, and I wasn't ready to settle. This is how it happened.

For those who have yet to see this movie "He's Just not that into you" it places a lot into your mind. Clearly, men aren't that hard to read. It becomes evident that not only is Bradley Cooper beautiful, but that all men are different however, if they want to be with you they will find a way. It is very helpful! I give it two thumbs up!

So, now I have to date? I haven't ever really dated that much. I mean I dated a little in college, but after that I meant D like a few months after moving home from college...so enough said. I am single and ready to mingle...I'll keep you posted on how things go with dating/guys in the future.

It's been a long time...

Welcome Back to the life of blogging! I haven't been on here in a while. I think I'm about to actually give it a go now?

What I've been up to?

-I broke up with my boyfriend of almost 4 years...this in itself could be its own blog.
-I finally got a new job(clapping not necessary) and start officially on Monday!

How I'd spend $1,000

I would spend about $100 at Sephora - stock up on makeup, moisturizers, products, etc. for the next year!

I would put about $200 in the bank for next year's Christmas gifts - I know kinda lame....

I would spend $100 on Red Sox tickets for D and myself!

I would spend $100 at IKEA buying odds and ends to organize house.

I would spend $25 to clean my carpets.

I would spend $100 at the Jcrew outlet on a few new summer items.

I would spend the last $375 on outstanding bills!

First rule of relationships: Honesty

Honesty

Love

Compromise

Acceptance

Ability to Change

Things I'm loving right now....

1. Baseball Season -

The Red Sox make me happy; I feel like a kid again; the sun is shining and I'm so excited!

2. Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs -

I have succesfully eaten wayyyyy too many to count. I'm seriously full from too many
eggs; who would've thought that was possible? Time to start my 21 day fast...

3. Polo's new section for the family -

You can now go on and find matching outfits for your whole family. For our Disney trip in the
fall, we are going to be that family, and now Ralph Lauren is helping make this much easier!

Check it out here.

4. Black Eyed Peas Boom Boom Pow -

This song is GREAT!!! It is not only great to run to, but also when cleaning house it literally
pumps you up! I'm so glad the Black Eyed Peas are back together. Now, if I could only figure
out a way to get tickets to Kiss concert I could see them in person!

5. My family -

It is not often you can sit back and appreciate them but, I am taking time out to do this
today. They may drive me crazy at time but I love each and every one of them to death!!!

Til Death do they part.....

I'm in D and C's wedding on May 16th. I'm super excited to see all my college friends, and cannot wait to see D in her dress! I'm a bridesmaid, not something I enjoy but am looking forward to being part of their special day.

This is what I'm thinking for the rehearsal dinner:
Rehearsal Dinner...
Rehearsal Dinner... by casualchic05 featuring Elizabeth and James rings

Thoughts??? I already have the shoes and cardigan, just need the sweater and ring is optional. After all, any gold ring will do...or perhaps I'll have an engagement ring by then which then of course will have to redo the gold themed outfit. I'm not sure exactly what the style etiquette is as far as when wearing fun gold jewelery is is it okay to wear white gold engagement ring???

For the wedding itself, our dresses are Ann Taylor strapless in a light blue taffeta with silver shoes. They are super cute, and yes despite the cliched statement "you can wear them again."

Now I just need to buy my plane ticket however, my boy and I might want to fly from Charlotte to Florida after the wedding. We just went to Disney in January however, we may go again. This spa is just fantastic!

Our other options that we are thinking are possibly flying to Atlantis, New Orleans, or Miami. I haven't been to any of these locations; D has and thinks they could be a great alternative to what we consider our safety vacation at Disney.

Things I'm loving right now.....

1. I'm loving buying shower/wedding gifts. I have two on May 16th that I've been invited to. One, is my big sis who's wedding is in Georgia; shower April 25th in Charlotte and I will not be attending either however, will purchase a gift for both. The other one on May 16th is in Charlotte, I am in it and shower on April 11th; I will be buying a gift for the shower and am a bridesmaid in the wedding. Ideas to come shortly.

2. Planning my next trip to Disney - yes its not until October 2009 but it is never too early to start planning.

3. Training for my 5K. I am not a runner and just as surprised as you are that I will be running this but am excited to do it! My brother, who is a trained runner got me to sign up with him and will be running the same race with me. He will most definitely run faster(he can run like 6 or 7 minute mile) but as long as I finished, I'm good with that.

4.
This new dress I bought from here. It is super cute, on sale, and perfect for the summer. I am always cautious when buying yellow since I have blonde hair however, the model in the photo is blonde also and looks good so I'm thinking it's a go.
Could perhaps be a contender for rehearsal dinner in May?

5. The website http://www.ruelala.com/.

Happy Opening Day!!!!!!

D is attending opening day today. I think it is going to rain but if not I hope he enjoys himself. I would love to go, but realize its his thing and should not be jealous. I have work to do, and should clean the house and do laundry.

It is crazy to have such a love for the Red Sox. I have, ever since I can remember, been a SOX FAN! I am extra excited because it is possible that Senator Ted Kennedy could be throwing out the first pitch. As much fun as it would to be there, watching it from my couch with a cup of coffee doesn't sound too bad seeing how its raining out.

When I think of the sport itself, it has a nostalgic feeling and makes me think of one of my most recent reads by Alyssa Milano. While at first I would be ashamed to admit I read this, I would recommend it only to those who are baseball fans. Even though she is referencing being a Dodgers fan, and I am straight up RED SOX, I think there is so much I actually can relate to. There is something about going to a baseball game; whether its the draft beer, grape bubblegum, or music playing on the soundsystem it brings you back to the feeling of being five years old again.

I think that especially with our country the way it is today, it's nice to reminisce and be nostalgic for those younger days. I give her 2 thumbs up for writing this book, and its nice to see something other than a traditional celebrity memoir. This book puts a twist on baseball, and life. I like it!

Let's hope that the game is played, the Red Sox win, and that D has a great time and makes it home safe and sound!
I will say its nice when he spends the day with the boys because I essentially have the day to myself! I can stay in bed until 11am and I know he won't call for a report on how much work I've done yet. GO TEAM GO!

I'm back - Does anyone read this?

So I'm officially bored....I am watching the 5th episode in a row of Jon and Kate plus 8. They just moved into a new house, and got two puppies.

So now I'm thinking I could definitely have kids soon, and puppies. I agree with Jon and Kate in that I would be less scared to have a baby then a puppy?

So what's new? I have officially started working for D part time which has its ups and downs; ups are that I'm working from home but downs would be that my boyfriend is my sorta boss:O

I took the MTEL test on Saturday. I'm wishing and hoping that I passed. I always get nervous when I think I did well on something, it normally seems to backfire. Here's hoping.

Oh and FYI I'm still not convinced on this whole twitter thing?

Welcome Back!

Hi there, in case you were wondering I have been busy recently. No, he hasn't proposed yet however, I'm thinking I will just let go and when it happens it happens.

I feel that the pressure I am putting on him and myself is making us all crazy. Also, my brother and his girlfriend broke up. No, it unfortunately was NOT amicable. Things ended badly and I feel extremely terrible for the both of them.

It has been about a week, and I have yet to talk to him about it. He has yet to speak with anyone, and has moved back in with my parents for the time being. WOW; this is probably not easy for them either however, it does make me think of my own relationship and also how I am currently the favorite child. I'm joking!

We had a blast. I will share pictures below of our trip to Disney! It was waaaaay too short! I wish we were going again soon.

Also, no takers yet on the job front. However, I have gone on 3 interviews since my last post so here's hoping.

Happy Monday!

Big Interview Today!

Okay, so cross your fingers I have an interview today that may work out! I'm hoping so badly they want to hire me. I realize that they probably have many options however, only about 2 minutes after I sent my resume I received a response regarding a phone interview and continued with a face to face interview.

These are good signs, I'm hoping for the best.

Also, a few things on the job front that I'm thinking about....

1. Why is it that because I don't have a job everyone gets mad when I want to spend money?
I have saved money, if I have money to spend I can spend it on whatever I want to right?

2. Another thing, I'm not sure why people want you to take the first position you're offered? Shouldn't I be able to choose a job I want? Is it possible to find a balance; while I realize that no job is perfect, after all it is a job. However, I do want to enjoy myself. Is that too much to ask?

3. Thinking down the road, D and I are going to struggle on working while having children. While I do admit that I would be bored not working the rest of my life, a full time job and children are not what I want. I'm thinking that I will convince him to see my way. I realize that children are not exactly in my immediate future but something to think about. After all, I have a lot of time to think!!!

4. It is so funny how all of sudden everyone around me has become an expert on the job hunt. Without sounding too negative, it is ironic that all around me know how to go about the job search better and quicker than myself. Tips? I don't want them; I'm the one with the Master's in Leadership and Human Resources, and you would think I know what I'm doing?

Things I'm loving right now....

Okay so I survived the whole weekend at my future mother in laws house....oh boy, being snowed in there is always a treat! Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that my errands running on Thursday would turn into roadtrip right down to D's mom's house. Lucky me, I had no extra clothes, toiletries, pajamas, etc. You know the feeling when you just want your own things?

A few things I'm loving right now....

1. My DVR; I never realized how exciting recorded nonsense programs and the house to myself is.

2. Besides my everyday crushes on Tim Daly and Mike Golic, Paul McCartney is my newest man crush! I'm totally smitten; he was on the view and his accent and singing just got me. I realize he's sixty something but there's something that is so charismatic about him. What is it about older men that is somewhat intriguing? Its not just the celebrity; they have something about them; of course I would never date above 40's, or would I?

3. Besides my newest love, I am absolutely loving that D is finally feeling better. This of course means no more Nurse E, which I'm so good.

4. I'm loving my family right now. I realize that as much as my own mother drives me crazy; she's great! She's my mother and I love her to death. Don't tell her I wrote this!

Fashion Police!

So I finally go to watch the Fashion Police Report on E! My thoughts? I pretty much agreed with all of them. The best dressed were Eva Longoria and worst was Renee Z. I totally agree with both choices! Also, I'm thinking that my elopement wedding is going to work. Yes, I realize I am counting my chickens before they hatch however, I feel that it is never too early to start planning.

I am debating on whether or not I should purchase this dress or wait and find something tea length. I want it to be casual yet chic! And I'm thinking D would be super sexy in a button down and seersucker linen pants.

I started to plan my wardrobe for our trip next week. I just got this sweater in black from Forever 21; I'm going for this look on the airplane; I just need red flats. Now onto what to wear every day. I enjoy amusement parks however, I cannot seem to get myself into wearing sneakers every day. I realize they are probably my best option. Also, because I broke my foot only 6 months ago I should definitely be careful.

I'm thinking some comfy flats might work? These are really cute but too much for Disney World. Anyone have any favorites?

Did I mention that D is sick? He has the flu...lucky us! I just hope he is better by next week, and cross your fingers he doesn't pass it on to me. He is nice enough to watch every season of the Wire while ill.

Oh, and FYI there are killer deals at Target; both online and in store. I scored a few dresses good for all seasons!

Time to watch the new episode of 90210. Later!

Monday, January 12, 2009

Things to do today....

1. Finish tiling my bathroom, start on kitchen. I'm thinking of possibly painting one wall in the kitchen with chalkboard paint. D's daughter is 3 and I think she would love this!

2. Apply to at least 10 jobs! I'm hoping that eventually I will be chosen for something!

3. Start my fashion choices for my Florida trip. Yes, that's correct I usually start planning at least 10 days in advance. This will require tanning, getting clothes out of storage and definitely extra yoga and pilates this week! My goal is to lose 5 pounds or so...this way I can eat whatever I want on my vacay!

4. Also, I am attempting to sell my television. It is a 52" SONY - in perfect condition but I would like something a tad smaller.

5. Decide what to cook for dinner. Hmmmmm....being unemployed equals chef?

6. Clean out walk-in in bedroom in order to fix closet(yes it is possible than D and I have too many clothes that we need to put new beams in to handle the heavy load.) Also, take Christmas tree down?

Whew....I have a lot to do today. Is it bad that I would rather watch my DVR'd episode of Brothers and Sisters?

Things I'm loving right now....

I'm undecided on these Marc Jacobs flats. They are much better than the horrific CROCS but similar idea. I was thinking they would be cute for the trip to Florida? I like the yellow one's.

I'm loving the fact that because I'm unemployed at the moment I become everyone's errands gal. I think people forget that finding a job is a job in itself. I guess it is nice that people trust me to help them and yes I do have extra time on my hands.

My new Blackberry is so addictive. I am obsessed with the Brickbreaker game. D and I are in competition to see who can get to the highest level. I'm currently in the lead.
Oh and speaking of silly games, has anyone tried playing the old school nintendo games with the Wii?
It is so exciting, I have now downloaded Super Mario 1 and 3; also Sonic 1 and 2 and Toe Jam and Earl. Not that I've ever been into video games however, something about them brings out the 12 year old in anyone who plays it.
I'm also loving that Kate Winslet won both Golden Globe awards last night; I just love her and she's so talented. Also, its great that Mickey Rourke won; it was like he is the underdog and he won! It was exciting; I also think that everyone looked so beautiful. There weren't too many misses; I loved Olivia Wilde and Eva Longoria. Also, I think Simon Baker looked absolutely adorable!
Lastly, I'm loving that there's snow on the ground, I have already had two cups of coffee this morning, and that my Christmas tree is still up!

Manic Monday!

Okay so the great thing of having no job at the moment is Mondays aren't so bad. However, my goal for this week is to get something at least part time until I find something full time.

I'm counting down the days until Disney World, we decided yesterday we are going to go to Universal Studios one day; not sure which park - any thoughts?

Also, I have now started receiving e-mails on the upcoming wedding I'm in. I haven't mentioned my excitement to be a bridesmaid in ANOTHER wedding. I'm still not sure to this point why people ask me, apparently I'm a perfect candidate. I know I should be honored to be asked, and am excited for D and C who have been together since we were in college, so its nice to see them finally tie the knot. The dress is Ann Taylor, supercute light blue and silver shoes. Now we are working on the bachelorette party, etc. To be continued!

7 things about me....

Since today is the seventh, and you don't know that much about me. I will share.

1. I love coffee; just plain black coffee. It can pretty much be any kind except the really bad hotel kind. I have to drink it everyday.
2. I cannot parallel park. I am lucky that I live in the suburbs however, anytime I venture into the city it is always so embarrasing. I normally park the farthest away just to avoid it. I absolutely cannot do it if there are people in my car.
3. I have one brother, who is a Marine Biologist. He works at the New England Aquarium and loves fish. Personally, I enjoy the aquarium but cannot see the fascination. I do however think its great that he's known what he's wanted to do since he was a child.
4. I secretly wish I was a model; wouldn't have to be a supermodel but the kind that lives in NYC, walks in shows for DVF and Ralph Lauren.
5. I hate my teeth; I love to smile and am always doing but secretly hate them. Maybe one day will get them fixed. Don't get me wrong; they aren't bad at all but I would love to have them perfect.
6. I don't want a wedding. This is crazy right? I'm going to crush my parent's dreams of their only daughter's white fairytale. However, I dream of eloping some place fabulous like the vineyards of California or Jamaica, and then perhaps a nice party when we return home.
7. Finally, I am so crazy in love. I have the most amazing boyfriend and he has the most amazing daughter, K. I love the both of them; even though we don't necessarily have the most convential family life I am absolutely head over heels for both him and my soon to be stepdaughter who is only 3 but I can't wait till she's a teenager and we can go shopping together.
That's it...just a little bit about me. ENJOY!

Vacation Choice....

Okay, so today we decided and went with the trip to Disney. I'm so excited!!! I'm thinking perhaps D will propose? What do you think, I mean I haven't told anyone this but why else would someone have to plan a getaway so soon right?
Well I guess I shouldn't get excited over nothing just yet.
Oh, and I redid my hair; I read online to use lemons and conditioner to get out the gray. This worked great, but was still a little gray, so I threw another box of dye in. Now it is a little dark...this is all such a guessing game. But I'm thinking it will get lighter as the week goes on, if not perhaps I should try the lemon again?
So back to the vacation, we are planning to go Thursday to Saturday in January. I am so excited to start packing. What is the weather like in January? I'll keep you posted.
A few things I'm planning to do today...
-I'm finally going to take down my christmas tree(yes I realize its late but I enjoy having it up)
-I'm going to make myself something other than toast for breakfast, perhaps french toast and bacon?
-It is my goal to apply for at least 10 new jobs today.

Things to do today...

1. Plan our vacation...

Okay, so D and are attempting to plan a vacation. We want a short getaway, he is dying to go somewhere warm however, that requires more money. We have narrowed it down to Disney World or New York City for a few days.

The Pros - DW
We already have certificates for one night hotel and 2 roundtrip tickets. Also, most likely in the 70's which equals no tan but warmer than it is here.

The Pros - NYC
This is fun, tons of shopping(even though D isn't really my ideal shopping buddy in the big city) and friends galore to visit with.

The Cons - DW
The park tickets are $$$$ however, if everything else is paid for not too bad!

The Cons - NYC
Shopping with D not my ideal shopping buddy here. Also, do I really want my relaxing vacation to be spent with friends I haven't seen in a while? This would mean lots of talking, drinking and not so much relaxation.

So, I think we are leaning towards Disney World. I'm thinking Thursday to Saturday; this will give us the relaxation and fun we are looking for...

2. I need to figure out what to do with my hair; I was dirty blonde with light highlights. I then decided I wanted to go dark(should've gone professional) and did box dye myself. Well now I have somewhat ashy gray hair.

Any suggestions? I am going to google ideas for this...

3. Make list of things needed for vacation...

4. Decide what to do with lil K as I am babysitting today. I'm thinking making sugar cookies as I received new cookie cutters for Christmas(I have a new shoe I'm dying to use) I'm thinking little red high heels? Also, we will be opening her gifts that Santa left her under the tree which she has yet to play with. I'm very excited as I love time with K!

Crazy in Blog

Okay so I've been unemployed for 2 months now, and my favorite thing to do is read blogs online....I'm almost obsessed.

So I'm going to start my own, a few questions...is anyone going to read this? Does anyone really care what I have to say?

Well, here goes nothing.

A little bit about me...I'm a 26 year old, have a great boyfriend and a lovely little condo in the suburbs of Massachusetts. I was laid off from my job a few months ago. I now spend my days job hunting, cleaning, and shopping on the internet:)

I find it interesting that people think being unemployed is fun...absolutely not at all. Yes, I was laid off however, my work chose to get rid of me. There were 5 employees and they chose me??? This does not do wonders for one's self esteem.

Also, I know have plenty of time to think about life. What do I really want to do with the rest of my life? To be honest, I think I would like to own my own company...or work from home. I guess that's probably what anyone's dream job would be...not sure. We can explore all this together....a little more about myself. I graduated from college in NC 4 years ago...have been dating D for over 3 years....I'm hoping marriage is close in the future? Also, something about me is that even though I do have every day to do nothing but think and clean, I am surprisingly lazy.

I hate to admit it but I love relaxing having my coffee in the morning; I think I could drink like 6 cups a day. I enjoy the bad tv and doing the occasional errands, etc. throughout the day.

This is it for now. More to come soon!
